Huge thank you to Jasper from ThinkDogs Training & Behaviour for his talk on strengthens in neurodiversity from a autistic perspective. As someone who’s ND too I’ve come to realise my ND is my strength I’m able to understand, observe, connect and help animals and their caregivers, I can sometimes see things from a different perspective when clients tell me they’ve used multiple trainers before and “nothings worked” I’m able to offer another view on behaviour. let’s celebrate and highlight it’s great to be neurodivergent and support others ❤️🙌🏼
Subtle Changes in Behaviour: What to Look Out For 🐴🐾 As pet professionals, we know that even the smallest changes in behaviour can be a signal that something isn’t quite right—whether it’s with your own animals or your clients’. These subtle signs can often be overlooked or dismissed, but paying attention to them is key to ensuring your pets stay healthy and happy. I’ve had Kobi for 8 years now, and while he’s typically a laid-back horse, he’s very sensitive to the moods of others. Whether it’s a human feeling upset or a horse wandering off, he picks up on things quickly. This morning, Kobi woke up the entire yard with his calling. Naturally, we all panicked to check if everything was okay—but when we checked, everyone was fine, including Kobi. His behaviour was odd, but there didn’t seem to be any obvious reason for it. Even though everything seems fine now—he’s eating, breathing well, and in his usual happy self—I’ve made a note in my diary about this unusual event. If any other changes occur, we’ll have a record to share with the vet, ensuring we don’t miss any critical patterns. As professionals, we always observe and document any subtle changes, even if they seem like one-offs. These small shifts in behaviour can sometimes indicate something more significant down the line, and it’s important to track them for the health and wellbeing of the animals we care for. Remember, a little attention to detail can make a big difference. 👀✨ #AnimalCare #PetProfessionals #BehaviourChanges #HorseCare #SensitiveSouls #PetHealth
Is your pet nervous? Are you worried how they’ll cope with accepting a new person/routine? This is a common issue for the type of animals we care for at Hoof&Paws. Every animal is a individual and require a individual approach but what they all need is time and understanding, thankfully we have years of experience and training with animals who require a bit more understanding. Animals are sentient beings with our training in body language, trauma, almost other qualifications and experience means we are able to read your animal and adapt a plan in a way that suits that animal as a individual. We aren’t here to rush the process: we will not force your dog to go for a walk, force your rabbit to be stroked, force your horse to be handled, everything is on the animals terms to create a secure relationship one in which your pet feels heard. If you’d like a pet care giver but your worried how your animal would cope, please contact us to discuss your need and schedule free meet and greet with one of our team!
We’ve been inundated with holiday requests for 2025. It’s been a task in itself to go through, but we will be going through those this week and working out what as a team we can and can’t accommodate. So if you’ve not heard from me either way by end of the week please let me know as I would hate to miss a request ❤️ Again, if you’d like to get booking in before we are fully booked please ping me a message and I shall send you a request form ❤️
We will need to suspend services if you think your pets poorly, please let us know! Don’t be the reason someone else’s pet falls poorly or worse! We have a lot of elderly/vulnerable pet on our books also some young ones so please help us protect others 🙂
